Thank you for your question.

You need to use the serial number to determine the manufacturing date. I have provided you with an image below to aid in determining the age of the tractor.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

Hello, I have a 1975 42" riding mower. It runs for a while , then dies, if I wait 30 min. it restarts. Is it possibly the rectifier/regulator "bad" or maybe the coil assembly, alternator??

A:

Before you replace any parts try loosening the gas cap after the tractor run awhile and then tightening it back. If the vent stops up on the fuel cap the engine will run 15-30 minutes and shut down. This might be what is happening.

The problem could also be the magneto.

The coil assembly, regulator charges the battery. The rectifier/regulator cuts the charging off when the battery is charged.

Always replace the spark plug, they can cause unusual symptoms.
