A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Craftsman Tractor, Model: 917.257731. From reviewing the details on your model, you will need to adjust the valves to .004 for the best operation. That is something that should be adjusted yearly for best operation.I have provided a link to a couple of videos on similar model of tractors which should be able to assist you on the valve adjustment.

A:

you can use your model number and go to searspartsdirect.com and open a diagram as to how the parts go together. Do you mean the drawbar on the back of the mower that you would pull a trailer with?

A:

Other than the parts list diagram that is in your owner's manual or on the Sears PartsDirect website, there is not any diagram that will help you remove this part. You will have to rely on the parts list diagram and your own physical observation of the part to remove the drawbar. According to the limited information that I can see on the parts list diagram, it appears that this part is secured to the frame rails with bolts. If you remove those bolts, you should be able to take the drawbar off.

Here is a link for the owner's manual on this type of tractor in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

Q:

How do you install the replacement for the clutch arm for model 917.257731?

A:

The clutch arm should go right in same as the original. The part has changed, but it should still work.

If you could re-submit your question with a little more detail about how it's not working I'm sure we could get to the bottom of it.
