Question and Answers

Q:

Loose v belt blades 917257630 Craftsman Lawn, tractor

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Craftsman Tractor, Model: 917.257630. From reviewing the details on your model, I recommend checking the part number on the belt first. If it is the correct part number, double check the routing. If you are sure the belt is routed correctly, I recommend checking the belt tension spring. If the spring is connected, remove the belt and work the idler arm back and forth. I have seen the pivots rust and cause the same problem. If yours is rusted, loosen the pivot bolt, and soak it with WD-40. Then work it back and forth until it is freed up. Once free, tighten the bolt and install the belt. This should cure the problem.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the tractor to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

On the enclosed fit up chart the bagger model numbers are different and the mounting plates are different.  I would recommend the bagger from the fit up chart.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you. I guess my question really boils down to what tractors will bagger 917.249401 fit onto? So far as I can see with the fit-up guide the answer is none.

A:

Mike, there is no listing of which tractors this bagger will work with using the bagger model. The only way to find out would be to run all the different tractor models individually to see if this bagger would work. The best way to find out would be to go to the sales floor and get some complete model numbers and then check with the sales representative, to see if this bagger will work.

Looking online, it appears they are the same pads but as a set half the price of the other two specific to my mower. The over pad thickness is the only thing that is a bit different. I can sand down one to the lesser thickness if my mower can't accomodate the added fraction of an inch.

I do not have the sizes of the pads that are called for with your transmission. I show the 799021 pad kit has 2 pads that are 1-1/8inch long, 1/2inch wide, and 1/4 tall.

If this is the same kit I'm thinking of, the pads are both a little bigger than the pads your transmission calls for. It seems like it will work for the outer pad but not the inner pad. Also, they may both be too long.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
