Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. The transaxle in this tractor uses 12-16 ounces of 4300 Shell Darina. If it is not leaking Or you are repairing the transaxle you should not have to add any grease.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Q:

Where can a customer get the replacement blade for this preticular lawn tractor. We cant locate it anywhere in the manual or at your local parts store.

A:

Trying to locate a part can sometimes be frustrating. I researched your question and see that the part you do want to order which is part #121263x is on back order, it is not recommended that you go outside of the manufacture because you aren't guaranteed for the part to fit. What I can suggest is to visit the PartsDirect website again and chat with somebody and they will further your search on this particular part. I have provided the link below. I hope this helps!

You can normally find your replacement blades at any Sears store but they could be on back order. The part number of the blades is 121263X which can also be ordered from Sears Parts Direct . The cost of a single blade is $12.79 but I will not be able to provide a specific location of where to purchase them other than Sears or by ordering it from Sears Parts Direct. You can also check part availability in local stores at Sears Parts Direct by entering the zip code and clicking on "Check stores".

Q:

Craftsman Lawn Tractor 917.257480 will only run when choke is on. Would the fuel pump on the side of the bowl type cartberator cause it to need to be choked?

A:

Hi Kathy, Sometimes I think the old plow horse would be less trouble, but we love our tractors. I see that someone else asked a similar question. Here is what the expert posted. I also attached the link with diagrams and the manual for your tractor.Hope this helps!

In most cases a tractor only running with the choke pulled out indicates trash and/or contamination being present in the carburetor. I noticed on your model that the engine has a fuel pump and the fuel tank is in the rear of the tractor. If the fuel pump is failing, it might would still run but only with the choke out. Normally it wouldn't run for very long like that though. With the tank being in the rear of the machine it is also possible that something has happened to the fuel hose. I would recommend inspecting the fuel hose to make sure it's not pinched or broken. A slight crack in the fuel line would have the same effect where pulling the choke out would cause it to run. Normally in that circumstance, you would notice a gas leak though. More than likely, your carburetor is in need of service. If the main jet in the carburetor is partly plugged the engine will run rough without being choked if at all. That is a fairly common problem this time of year after the tractor has sat unused for the Winter months. Due to the age of the reactor i rec
