I looked up the model numbers you submitted. I am sorry the snow blower will not work on your tractor. I recommend looking for a snow blower that starts with 486. These blowers are new and parts are still available.
If you find a model, please reply with the model number. I will be happy to check if it will fit.

I cannot get the blades to engage on my Craftsman riding mower, model 917.256582.

A:

It seems more likely that you didn't get a link connected to the idler pulley.

Get someone to engage and disengage the deck while you watch the linkage move the idler pulleys. I suspect you will find a link moving that is not attached to the bracket.

The springs connect to the clutch arm (item 78) and to holes in the deck.
