Q:

Wire Schematic 917.256560

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The wiring diagram would have been within the tractor's owner's manual. I was unable to pull up the specific manual for this tractor, but found one that was one revision later than this model. The model is 917.256561. The diagram will likely be close enough to refer to. It's on page 29.

Q:

How do I check the drive train lube on my Craftsmen lawn tractor?

A:

The main drive components are all belt related, so I am assuming you are referring to the actual drive transaxle itself.

In this case, the transaxle is a Dana 4360-97 which does not use oil for a lubricant but is actually grease filled.

There is no check-point for the lube, since it is considered a sealed unit and normally will not need any attention unless the transaxle has been completely disassembled for some reason.

If the transaxle is disassembled it should be refilled with approximately 12-16 ounces of Shell Darina O grease.
