The wiring diagram would have been within the tractor's owner's manual. I was unable to pull up the specific manual for this tractor, but found one that was one revision later than this model. The model is 917.256561. The diagram will likely be close enough to refer to. It's on page 29.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I suspect the problem is coming from the transaxle. To be sure, I recommend having a helper start the tractor and idle the engine down. Then have them put the tractor in gear. When they release the clutch, try to pin point the noise. If it coming from the back, turn the tractor off and remove the key. Then lower the mower deck so you can access the pulley on the transaxle. You want to turn the pulley and look for anything rubbing. If is not rubbing the problem is with the transaxle. You can order a new transaxle from the following link.
