most flywheel gears are heated to expand the metal ring then placed on the flywheel and when cold down they shrink staying on the flywheel. you will need a torch and the gear ring if you can get it. you might just be better off getting a new flywheel it will have the gear installed ready to go.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The fasteners will need to be cut or ground off to remove the ring gear. I found one video showing one way of removing the ring gear from the flywheel. The material between the magnets could be part of the adhesive used to glue the magnets to the flywheel. If the material/debris is flush to outer parts of the magnets, then it is likely grass and dirt debris. Use caution to prevent cracking or damaging the magnets.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

expert joey s, thanks for your response; the video is helpful but i still have a few questions: the video shows an easy way to get the gear off but i can only assume that the rivets will not be too hard to drive out? i also assume the new gear will come with new rivets or some other way to attach it. do you have any tips to help me put the new gear ring on the wheel, or perhaps another video?

A:

Mark: The ring gear will come with new mounting hardware. Putting the ring gear back on should be as simple as placing it on the flywheel and bolting it down.
