Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I assume the engine will continue to run when you attempt to engage the deck. If this is what is happening I recommend checking the belt routing first. If the belt is fine, have someone move the lever while you watch the idler arm on the deck. When the lever is lifted, the idler on the deck should move and tighten the belt. If the linkage is connected and the idler does not move, I suspect the idler pivot is rusted. To fix this loosen the pivot bolt and soak the pivot with WD-40. Then work it back and forth until it is loose. Once free, tighten the bolt and check the operation. I hope this is helpful.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the mower.

I know that it can be very difficult to repair your lawn mower without the right information. If you are just replacing the mower deck belt, you do not have to remove the mower deck. To replace the belt lower the mower deck to the lowest position. Then look on the mower deck and the underside of the footrest. You should see a decal that shows the routing of both belts. Use the image to route the belt correctly. Be sure the belt is on the right side of all the belt guides. Once the belt is on check the operation. If you are replacing the ground drive belt, it is best to remove the mower deck first. This will give you more room to work. To remove the mower deck, remove the mounting pins and slide it out. Then use the diagram on the decal to route the belt.

If you would like a copy of the owner's manual, I did find that you can still order them. The part number is 126255X, and you can order it from this link: Sears Parts Direct . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
