Q:

how to remove starter 917255914 Craftsman 44" mower garden tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Start by removing the battery terminal connections, ground first, and secure them so they will not make contact with the battery terminals.

To replace the starter you will need to loosen (not remove) the 2 screws on the back of the engine shroud and the 2 on the front. Then remove the dipstick and pull straight up on the shroud. Now remove the red cable connected to the starter. Remove the 2 screws holding the starter onto the engine block and the start will come right off. Set the new starter into position and put the 2 screws in place. Connect the red cable back to the starter. Now put the shroud back in place and you're done.

Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

I know that it can be very difficult when you can't find the parts that you need.  However, due to the age of the lawn tractor, many of the parts are no longer available.  This includes the pump.  I have checked all of our resources, but was not able to find this part, or anything that can replace it.  As for the fuel cup, this is also another part that has changed.  The orginial is no longer available, so it was substituted for the fitting.  It should work just like the cap. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
