Q:

charging 917254322 Craftsman Lawn tractor

Q:

I have a Craftsman tractor model 917254322. The tension spring, part 74, on the lower (secondary) deck belt broke. Where does it go?

A:

The spring connects to a hole in the idler pulley bracket on the deck. The other end of the spring connects to a bracket or hole in the deck.

The spring pulls the bracket so the pulleys move away from the belt to disengage it. If you wipe the dust an debris off the deck you will see the hole or bracket the spring attaches to. The paint will be worn away where the spring has been.

Q:

I am trying tofind a manual for a craftsman 16 hp riding mower. model 917.254322

A:

Due to the age or your mower, the manual is no longer in print. As of today, a manual has not been digitally loaded into our database here. You may check back in 30 days to see if one has become available.

I tried to find any kind of drawing for the springs on the deck and had no luck. The parts breakdown doesn't really show that type of thing. I wish there were more I could do to help you with this, but I'm afraid I can't at this time.
