Q:

transaxle 917254320

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the parts you received for your Craftsman tractor model 917254320. I am so sorry the bevel gear and input shaft were too big. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link below for you to view the parts diagram for the transaxle online.

You should be able to identify the parts based on where they are located in the transaxle. If you still have the original part, you can verify the part by counting the teeth on the gear. Once you have identified the parts you need, please contact our Customer Care department at 1-800-366-7278. Our Customer Care advisor will assist you with returning the wrong parts and also place the new order for you.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

The plunger button can be unscrewed from the handle assembly. It actually will pull off, but it's extremely hard to do that, so I just turn them to the left to unscrew them. The center wire part that the plunger connects to is like a tightly wound up spring, so it's almost like threads of a screw.

Once you have the old one removed: Set the new plunger in place and turn it while pushing it on it. You may need to stick something below the bottom hooked part to keep it from going down. I normally just stick a screwdriver in the bottom hole (slot) to keep the hook up and that will allow enough of the center wire to stick up to where the plunger can be screwed or pushed onto it.

A:

There will be 4 screws that secure the mandrel to the mower housing. They screw in from the underside of the mower deck. Take those screws out and then you can pull the mandrel assembly up and out of the mower housing.
