Thank you for your question as to why the tractor will not turn and make a sound when the key is turn to start it.

There are some safety switches and a fuse in the start circuit for the tractor.

You could jump across the two heavy red contacts on the start solenoid see if the starter will turn over. Please be careful if you decide to do this with a large insulated handle screw driver because it will spark at those contacts.

If the battery is fully charged I would look to see if the inline fuse is open in the wire harness under the hood down by the steering sector gear.

It will be a car type plug in fuse.

If the fuse is okay then I would look for the attacthment switch and the clutch switch to make sure they are working.

The next thing to check is the red wire going from the ignition switch to the start solenoid to see if you have 12 volts going to the start solenoid with the ignition switch in the start position.

With the tractor being that old the ignition switch could also be bad.

The wiring diagram for this older tractor is not very good and would not be very beneficial.

Please let me know what you find out and we can troubleshoot with that information.
