Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Elite - door open, latch locked, won't unlock

A:

I can understand how difficult it is to not have all your appliances working properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I have found a link that will provide some information and troubleshooting. I would suggest that you push in the plunger that turns the light off, then press the and hold the stop button. This will trick the range into thinking the door is closed. I hope this will help you.

The problem will most likely be the lock motor but it could also be a relay on the control.

The temperature sensor is also part of the circuit. Have you noticed any F# or F4 error codes?

The image below shows how to enter diagnostic and run the lock motor. This may help you resolve this problem.

Try it and reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Q:

Where do I find the electronic range control and the neutral wire connection at the terminal block? Do you

A:

NOTE: YOUR RANGE IS CONNECTED TO 220 VOLTS. USE CAUTION - TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY: DISCONNECT POWER TO THE RANGE OR TURN BREAKERS OFF TO THE RANGE. VERIFY VOLTAGE IS OFF BY USING A VOLT METER BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY WORK ON YOUR RANGE.

Repairs should be done by individuals possessing adequate backgrounds of electrical, electronic and mechanical experience.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose your problem.

The Electronic Range Control (ERC) is the control in the center of the control panel behind the glass. It controls the oven operation. Unfortunately I do not have a wiring diagram to send you. The terminal block is where the incoming power supply is connected. It is on the rear of the range. The neutral connection will be the center terminal with White wires.

To access a parts list diagram, go to Sears.com and click on the Parts link. On the parts page, enter the model number 91199009990 and press GO. Select your product's model number 91199009990. Press CONTINUE. Select View diagram beside BACKGUARD and press CONTINUE. Key # 16 is the Electronic Range Control (ERC). The terminal block will be located on the BODY Section and it is Key# 255.

Q:

Why does my electronic clock and oven control go blank?

A:

From the description of your symptom it sounds like it has a loose wire connection. The loose connection could be on the Electronic Range Control (ERC) or the neutral wire connection at the terminal block.

These repairs should normally be done by a service technician. I recommend calling for service and having the technician diagnose and repair your electric range.
