Question and Answers

Q:

My Kenmore range burner is too hot 91199004990 Kenmore 30" free standing range

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your burner is getting too hot on your range. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

It sounds to me like the thermal limiter switch is going bad causing the element to heat higher than normal.

You may need a new double element because the limiter is sold with the elements.

COOKTOP REMOVAL:

  • Before removing the cooktop, the control panel must first be removed (reference section on control panel removal).

The cooktop is fastened to the body side extensions with two (2) screws.

  1. Remove the 2 screws and slide the cooktop assembly forward. Lift the cooktop off.

According to my information, 3 of the switches should have the same terminals as the original switches. The terminals might not be in the same position as the originals, but the lettering (such as H1, H2) should be the same. On these switches, move the wires from H1 on the old switch to H1 on the new switch.

The switch for the dual burner is totally different from the original and should have an instruction sheet showing how to connect the wires. I am sending you an image with the instructions for wiring the dual burner switch.

Part number WB24T10119 is for the right front large element. Part number WB24T10012 is for the right rear and center (warmer) element. Part number WB24T10063 is for the left dual (bridge) element.

If you have more questions, reply on this thread and I will be glad to help.

I added a wiring diagram below this reply. I recommend that you UNPLUG the range and check the black wire connected to the control board that is traced in red on the wiring diagram below. Also check the white wire that is traced in green. If those wires are connected to the control board properly to supply voltage to that component then you will probably need to replace the control board to fix that type of failure. If you need more help, let us know.

My oven on the elite range has quit for the 3rd time in less than 4 years. My schematic was inadvertently taken or I misplaced it. I printed the diagram above but it is so small, it's hard to read. Any way of enlarging it and posted it again? My tech can't repair without the schematic.

Hello Sharon. I apologize for the problem with the image size. We have some website problems that may be contributing to that issue. I posted that wiring diagram in the image below. When you click on it the first time, it should appear in a new tab or webpage on most browsers. Try clicking on the image that opens in the new tab or window to enlarge it. If you still can't view and print the image, then I recommend that you submit a new question to my attention. Once you submit a new question, I can email a normal size image to you using the email associated with your Manage My Life account. Thanks.
