Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I must assume this is not a newly installed range used for the first time. Based on this assumption it would be difficult to say for sure what's causing the odor. It could be a loose wiring connection causing high resistance which could cause the wire insulation to get hot and emit an odor or it could be something else getting hot and emitting the odor.

I recommend calling and scheduling a service appointment to have your range inspected for the cause of the plastic burning odor.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why does my Kenmore Elite range give me a message F0?

A:

The F0 error code indicates that the CLEAR/OFF keypad is stuck or that you have a failed control keypad. The normal troubleshooting for this error code involves unplugging the range and unplugging the keypad from the electronic range control board. The range would then be powered back up with the keypad unplugged. If the F0 returns, then the electronic oven control board (part WB27T10223) will need to be replaced. You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. This is an expensive part ($392.99 not including tax, shipping and handling). If the F0 does not return, then the keypad would normally need to be replaced. I am showing that the glass touch keypad for this range is no longer available.
