Q:

surface element light on Kenmore Range model #91195579891 91195579891 Kenmore Range

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your range. Upon researching model91195579891: I can understand your concern in having a properly working range in your home. I will be glad to help you today. This type of problem is caused by a failed (stuck) contact on one of the surface burner infinite switches. To diagnose this failure, a technician would unplug the range and access the infinite switches in the console by removing the upper back panel on the range. The technician would pull the wire connected to the P terminal of the infinite switch on the LF burner and dress pull it out of the way so that it does not contact the metal cabinet of the range or any other wires or contacts. The technician would then briefly plug the range back in to see if the “ELEMENT ON” light still stays on. If the light turns off with the P wire of the LF burner disconnected then the LF infinite burner switch needs to be replaced (with the range unplugged) to fix this problem. If the light stays on, then the range would be unplugged. The P wire would be replaced on the LF burner and the process would be repeated for the LR and RR burners. On the RF burner, the 4 and 4a wires would need to be pulled to diagnose this failure. Once the bad burner switch is identified, it will need to be replaced (with the range unplugged).

NOTE:

If you attempt to diagnose this failure yourself, be sure that you unplug the range when handling wires on the burner infinite switches and properly position the disconnected wires out of the way so that they do not short to other wires or the metal cabinet.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Thank you CarlosZ for the troubleshooing. I have done precisely as you described and the "Element ON" light stays lite as I tested each switch. Do you have another suggestion?

A:

By the way there is only a 4 wire...no 4A. So I tested with the 4 wire and P wire pulled and with just the 4 wire pulled..lite stays lite.

Q:

wiring for replacement part WB50T10057 91195579891 Kenmore Range

A:

You should not need the jumper wire for that model of range. You should see a L1, Neutral, Bake, Broil and Sensor harness connection on the substituted control board. Just hook up those wire correctly. If the original connection spades on the wires do not fit the spade on the new control board, replace the connection spade on the wires with ones that fit.

If you are unsure about how to hook up the wires, I recommend that you have a service technician install the new control board.

If you need more help, let us know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.
