Q:

Kenmore electric range model #9119398710 9119398710 Kenmore Kenmore electric range

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the bake is no longer working in the oven. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

I would recommend visually inspecting the bake element for any damage or breakage within the coil. If so, you may just need to replace the element. You mention the upper broiler works. If the bake element looks okay, you will need to pull it out and check for power to the wire connector that the element plugs in to. If there is no power being supplied, the electronic control more than likely has a shorted power relay for the bake. In that case, the electronic control board would need replacement. Given the age of the unit, if it needs an electronic control board, I would recommend to replace the stove for a newer unit. The cost of the repair would be the majority of the cost of a new unit.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

I understand your frustration with that repair. The cooktop on that model of range does not lift up as easily as it does on other types of electric ranges. I posted a parts image below that may help you with the removal of that cooktop so that you can access and replace the Solid Disk Element. Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

According that parts drawing, there appears to be screws or fasteners at the front and the back of the range that secure that cooktop to the frame. You may or may not need to remove the console to release that cooktop. You should be able to access the screws in front by opening the oven door. You will probably need to remove the back panel of the range to access the screws at the back of the cooktop. You will probably need to find and unplug the wire harness connections for the elements. You will need to depend on the parts diagram shown below and your personal observation of the range to complete this repair. You can view a full parts listing of the range on this page: Kenmore Range Model 911.9398710 Repair Parts.

Once you lift the top, you can remove the bracket components that secure the disk element. Remove the wires and then replace the element.

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, reply with additional details and we will try to help you again.

This can be a complicated and tedious repair. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician replace that element, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services Range Repair.
