A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the self cleaning cycle is set up for self clean and it can be started without locking the door, then I would suspect a problem with the door lock assembly or the micro switch mounted on the door lock assembly. When to door is unlocked, the micro switch must open and break the circuit. It could also be related to the clock, oven thermostat or the selector switch too. Make sure you have the selector switch is set for bake and also turn the oven thermostat knob all the way off and then set the oven temperature and make sure the Start and Stop knobs are in the out positions.

The oven thermostat, selector switch and clock assembly are no longer available in case one of the three is faulty.

This may be the time to consider replacing the range rather than attempting to have it diagnosed.

I recommend calling a service technician with the proper tools and experience to diagnose the failure. The oven thermostat, selector switch, clock and the oven door lock operation will need to be tested.

I added a link to the Use and Care Guide in case you do not have it.

You can have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
