Q:

I'm trying to determine how old my range is? It is a Kenmore model 911.93291790 serial No. 8d299652D

A:

Good afternoon.... Thank you for the information you've given us to do our research. The date revolves around the number 8. So it's either built in 1988, 1998 or 2008. You can make the determination from there. Have a nice day.

I don't recognize that exact serial number format. The model number of that range indicates that it was produced around 1999 to 2002.

I thoroughly checked all of our parts sources. I do not find a replacement cook top in white or any other color that will fit that range. It does not appear that the cook top is available for that range.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. We all need a working oven. Based on the fault code (F2), the oven exceeded 650 degrees with the door unlocked or it exceeded 902 with the door locked. The "F2" could also display if the "Lock Switch" opened while the oven exceeded 650 degrees.

If an actual over temperature condition occurred, replace the oven control board because the relay likely stuck close.

If no over temperature condition occurred, look for a high resistance oven sensor or high resistance in the oven sensor circuit.

In order to diagnose why the fault code appeared will involve opening the oven door and locate the oven temperature sensor probe. The oven temperature sensor probe is located inside the oven cavity at the rear upper left or rear upper right hand corner. It can be removed and disconnected. The oven sensor will need to be tested for resistance using an OHM meter. The oven temperature sensor probe should have a resistance measurement of approximately 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the sensor resistance is not approximately 1100 ohms, replace the sensor.

The oven temperature sensor is part #WB21X5301 and can be ordered and shipped to you from Sears Parts Direct .

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
