Q:

Oven Won't Start; Suspect Control Panel 9117389180 Kenmore Gas range

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your range. Upon researching model 9117389180;  it sounds like the electronic control board may have failed. The electronic control board activates and deactivates the oven so when it completely fails it will not activate the oven. The electronic control board has been discontinued and is no longer available, we do not have a substitution.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I know how frustrating it is when a range doesn't work properly. The F1 error code indicates that the clock/oven control (also called ERC -- electronic range control) has a failed transistor.

The part you ordered, called the clock plate, appears to be the overlay portion for the electronic control, but not the electronic board itself. Based upon the schematic for your model 911.7389180, the electronic board would be key number 23 on the diagram, whereas the part you ordered is number 20. It appears the electronic board itself is no longer available. The main reason it has been discontinued and is no longer available is because of the age of the range, manufactured in the 1980's. I was not able to locate an owner's manual for this model either, more than likely due to the age.

I have included a schematic of the parts breakdown for the control panel to show you the parts and the way the panel is put together and taken apart. Hopefully this will be of help. If you need to return the clock plate, I request you call us back at 1-800-469-4663 and ask to speak with Customer Care.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details the only component that would begin making the buzzing noise is likely the oven relay which is part of the electronic oven control. In order to resolve the issue the electronic oven control will need to be replaced; however the electronic oven control is no longer available. If it was my range I would likely use it until something fails to work and then replace the range.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
