Why is the top around the surface burners getting very hot?


It is normal for the areas around each burner being used to get hot after a short time of being ON. I have a range almost exactly like yours and the areas around the surface burners will get hot after the element has been ON for while. The radiant heat will naturally cause the top to get hot. It is not a fire hazard as this is a normal occurrence. The lack of contact between the surface elements and

NOTE: Make sure the pots and pans have flat bottoms or the heat will not be absorbed correctly. If the elements are warped or the pots and pans do not sit flat; the heat can not be absorbed efficiently and will cause the top to get hotter than normal. Using too large of a pot or pan for the size of the element can also cause the top to get hotter that normal. If the element is glowing bright red this would indicate that the pot or pan is not making full contact with the heating element coil.
