Q:

f7 error code on kenmoore elite oven

A:

I understand that you are getting the error code F7 on your Kenmore Elite oven. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful.

As noted in the link for a previous answer provided in the above response, the F7 code indicates that you have a problem with the control panel keypad. This is often caused by a bad connection of the ribbon cable from the control panel to the electronic oven control board. I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven and check that ribbon cable connection. I provided the procedure for opening the console on this type of oven in the image below. Your oven may be slightly different than the one shown below but the basic procedure is the same. Check the ribbon cable contacts for corrosion. Those contacts may need to be cleaned. You can usually clean those contacts with a soft pencil eraser. If you clean the ribbon cable contacts in this manner, be sure that you use only light pressure to prevent damage to those contacts.

After cleaning the contacts, plug the ribbon cable back into the control board and see if you still get the F7 code. If you do, then you will need to shut off the breaker and unplug that ribbon connector. Reassemble the oven and power it back up with the ribbon connector unplugged from the control board. If the F7 is displayed with the ribbon connector unplugged, then the electronic oven control board (part WB27T10310) will need to be replaced. If the F7 is not displayed with the ribbon cable unplugged, then the control panel will need to be replaced.

Hello! I have a Kenmore Elite 30" self-cleaning oven. On my control panel, the clean button and the light button does not work. All other functions work properly. Also, the oven light goes on when the door is opened. Can you help?

One other question -- if I have to replace the control box, is it something I can do myself?

A:

For Linda: Some models of Kenmore 30" self-cleaning ovens have a separate key panel from the control board. Some have a key panel that is integrated into the control board. If you have the same model as mentioned in the above question (911. 49029100) then the key panel is separate from the control. You would need to either get a service technician to repair the oven or conduct the key pad test that is described in the image below to diagnose your failure in that situation. Be sure that you SHUT OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER for the oven before accessing internal components. The keypad test shown below is valid for model 911.49029100. If you have a different model of Kenmore oven, then the test may be different. If you are able to determine the cause of your problem, then you may be able to replace the failed component yourself. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect.com website (see link below). You may be able to use the access information shown above if you have the 911.49029100 model. Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the oven before accessing internal components. If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your oven.

Q:

Where can I find a microwave oven trim kit for an opening 27" wide x 17" high over a 30" Kenmore Elite oven?

A:

From your model number, it appears that the microwave is black. You will need the 27" trim kit for this microwave (model 721.63019 is the black color). The installation instructions for this trim kit are shown in the images below. This should resolve the problems that you indicated in the details of your question.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional detail.
