Question and Answers

Q:

no display bottom oven works

A:

Thank you for your question. I am sorry the repair did not take care of the issue. There is a fuse located at the back of the oven but as the bottom oven is working, I think this  may be a problem with the connectors to the new control. If you are comfortable with a meter and making checks, I have attached two tech sheets and a wiring diagram below that may help trace the problem. Remember to disconnect power to the ovens before any service or repair. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

We just moved into a new house and after plugging in the used oven the entire control panel is lit with all the characters.

A:

The control panel lit and not working properly can really cause some concern and keep you from cooking. I am sorry for the inconvenience and I did manage to find a link with a similar question. I hope this helps with your range troubles while you wait for your expert response.

A:

Thank you. Unfortunately replacing the control panel is more then the oven is worth. The lower oven seems to be working. I guess we can just use that until we can have it replaced. Thanks again.

Based on your symptom and details; the electronic oven control/clock assembly has failed. The electronic oven control #WB27T10264 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

A:

The F2 error code indicates either the electronic range control (ERC) or the oven temperature sensor has failed.

You can't test the ERC (electronic range control), but you can test the oven sensor. Begin by disconnecting the power to the range and removing the rear panel covering the ERC. Remove the lower panel from the range and follow the oven sensor wires up to the control. Disconnect the plug on the ERC containing the oven sensor wires and read the resistance of the oven sensor. It should read between 1000-1200 ohms.

If the oven sensor tests within this range the ERC is defective. If it tests out of the range disconnect the wires from the oven sensor and measure the resistance of the oven sensor. If it tests out of the range the oven sensor is defective. If it tests within the range the harness between the ERC and the oven sensor is defective.
