Question and Answers

Q:

Wall oven shuts itself off while baking and displays "locked" on the digital readout Kenmore 911 91148369690 Kenmore Electric built-in double oven

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your oven states locked on the display and your oven does not work properly. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found the common cause of that reading.

The failure could be one of several possible failures;

  • Electronic Oven Control
  • Door lock circuit/switches
  • Door lock mechanism

I would recommend getting a technician to take a look at the unit to determine what could be wrong and get more of a diagnostics

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

First, make sure that both heating elements operate in the oven because both elements (bake and broil)are used during bake. The broil element is cycled on 25% of the time during bake cycle. Only the bake element will work during the pre-heat cycle and once it reaches set temperature, the bake and broil element alternate operation through out the baking process.

If both bake and broil elements are found to be heating during the baking process, then it could have a faulty electronic oven control or temperature sensor probe. The temperature sensor probe is located inside the oven cavity in the upper rear corner. It can be removed and tested for resistance with an Ohm meter. The oven temperature sensor should measure approximately 1100 Ohms at room temperature.

I added a YouTube video showing how to measure the oven temperature sensor .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "F7" fault code can mean a stuck key pad or stuck relay on the electronic oven control. To determine if the problem is key pad or control by:

  • Pushing the Clear/OFF pad
  • Disconnecting the ribbon connector from the control board and waiting for at 32 seconds to see if the code recurs.

If the code recurs; the problem is in the electronic oven control and it will need to be replaced. If the code does not recur; the key pad/control panel will need to be replaced.

I do not recommend attempting this test unless you have experience working with live voltage and you feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your Kenmore oven.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
