Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The oven indicator light is controlled by the lower oven thermostat. The lower oven thermostat is faulty and will need to be replaced.

This type of repair should be performed by a service technician with the experience and proper training.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I just received the Altea Thermostat. I thought it would be a unplug and plug in the new one. The piece that is connected by the wire lead looks like a challenge. How is that routed into the lower oven? Is there a special tool? I may have to call in for back up!

A:

Anonymous; there are no special tools needed. The thermostat will have copper capillary tube which must be routed down and into the lower oven. This can involve some work. You should be able to follow the old capillary tube connected to the old thermostat in order to know how it's routed. If youre not able to successfully install the thermostat, I recommend calling a service technician to install it for you. There are no specific instructions that I can provide other than what I have described.
