Q:

30" kenmore range and F3 code 911.41089890

A:

Open or shorted circuit, could be the result of contamination on terminals or pinched wire in sensor circuit, cold solder joint on the control.  Disconnect the power and remove from oven (disconnect at connector block). Measure sensor resistance at the control connector and should read 1100 ohmsat room ambient aprox 72 degress. Measure each sensor load from connnector block to ground. If shorted look for pinched or cut wires in sensor circuit. Check connector terminals. Look for deformed oe corrosion on the terminals, Repair or replace. If all above os ok it is possible the controller may need to be replaced. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Q:

The Start BUTTON ON MY OVEN (911.41089890) DOESN'T WORK. Would it be the control pannel with keyboard ( WB36T10162) or the Retforrepr (WB27T10) that is broken?

A:

Diagnosing oven problems are more challenging with the electronics built in to today's models. It is wise to make sure before laying out money for parts that may not correct the situation. Once you have the expert answer, you can at least save time by ordering the parts online at Sears Parts Direct. I attached the link for your model below. Hope you are ready for cooking soon!

The only way to be sure which part is bad is to do the ohm test on the touchpad. I am sending you an image showing how to test the touchpad. If the touchpad tests good the problem is in the clock (electronic control). Be sure you disconnect the power to the oven before taking the control panel apart.

Ok did the test and my start button was the bad one. Replaced the touchpad thru sears. #WB36T10162 Black) and it works but now the oven power will just shut off during baking and then the clock just flashes till I reset it. Sometime even after I hav baked and it was ok. the fan runs for a while and in the middle of the night I will get up and the clock will be blinking or the power is ust off. Now what? Oven model is single 30" elec. self cleaning built in wall oven kenmore # 911-40189 black.

The error code you provide is not one that is used for this oven. These are usually the letter F followed by a number. It sounds like the timer is stuck on the clean cycle with 8 minutes remaining. I would suggest that you unplug the range for a few minutes, then plug it back in. Then press the stop/pause button on the panel twice. This should reset it back to the default settings. If you are still having the same problem, please reply to this thread with more details.
