Question and Answers

Q:

Why does F3, F2 and sometimes F4 display on my Kenmore wall oven?

A:

The fault codes F2, F3 and F4 are likely indicating a bad oven temperature sensor probe or a loose or corroded sensor circuit connection at the sensor or at the control board. The oven sensor will need to be removed and disconnected from inside the oven cavity. It will be located in the rear upper left or right hand corner. The oven temperature sensor probe will need to be tested for the correct resistance with an ohm meter. At room temperature (approximately 72 degrees) the sensor should measure 1100 ohms. If it does not measure approximately 1100 ohms, replace the sensor. If it measures approximately 1100 ohms, reconnect and install the sensor back into the oven cavity. Next, the same test will need to be performed at the sensor harness leads where it connects to the control board. The sensor harness needs to be disconnected from the control board and tested for resistance again with the ohm meter. If it measures approximately 1100 ohms, replace the oven control board. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply to the wall oven before removing the console and testing the resistance of the sensor circuit. The oven sensor is part #WB21X5301 at $73.49.
