Check to see if the broiler will work. If neither the broiler nor the bake burner will ignite, I recommend that you check the shut-off lever on the regulator as shown in the image below.

If that regulator is okay, check to see if the igniter is glowing on the bake burner when it is set in the bake mode. The second image shows how to access components in this range. The theory of operation for that bake burner assembly is shown in the first image below. If that igniter is glowing, then the components in that bake burner circuit are okay except for the igniter. The igniter is probably not heating to a point where its resistance decreases enough to allow the minimum current to flow through the safety valve. The safety valve will not open if 2.5 amps of current does not flow through the circuit to that component. The igniter will need to be replaced in that situation. A technician would normally measure the amp draw through that circuit to verify that failure before replacing the igniter. If you have clamp-on ammeter, you can check that issue yourself. If not, replacing the igniter will probably fix that oven heating problem.

If the bake igniter does not glow when the oven is set in the bake mode, then you could have a bad clock control board, a failed igniter, a bad safety gas valve or a wiring failure in the circuit. You can unplug the range and check for continuity through the igniter and the safety gas valve. The gas valve should measure around 1.5 ohms using a volt/ohm meter. The igniter resistance will probably be between 5 and 400 ohms. If those components are okay, then you will probably need to replace that clock control.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing internal components.

These tips may help you resolve this oven heating problem in your range. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Shut off the breaker for the range to disconnect electrical power. Remove the oven door as shown in the image below. You will need to pull the range out and then you can follow the steps in the procedure shown below to remove the hinge. Your range may look slightly different than the one shown below but the basic procedure will be the same. You will likely need to remove the side panel before removing the hinge. You should be able to unhook the spring from the hinge and then remove it once you have the side panel removed. If you need more help, submit additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident replacing this hinge yourself, then you can have it replaced by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
