Thanks for the information. I had read that one before making my post. Sounds a little similar - the difference is mine doesn't keep sparking when I turn the knob to off. It sparks when I turn the knob to the spark portion on the knob and keeps sparking when i turn the flame up higher. When all the knobs are in the off position the spark is off. Any other ideas?

Thank you for your question on the gas range with the continuing spark ignition.

With these problems one of two things may have happened.

In the process of cleaning the cook top you got some water down passed the control knob and it has shorted out the switch for the ignition on the top of the gas valve. If this is what happened it may take a few days for it to dry out and then work normally.

It also could be that because of the age of the cook top one of the switches has worn out and the contacts for the ignition has stuck in the on position.

If that is the case the switch or switches will have to be replaced.

The cook top with have to be removed from the counter top and the glass remove to access the gas valve area to replace the switch which is over the top of the gas valve shaft for the knob.

If you feel comfortable with removing the cook top and opening up the cook top for repair then please reply and I will be happy to help you further.

If you decide to do this repair yourself here is the part number for the switch: WB13M1 for about $13.00 but I would suggest you order all four because of the work of replacing just one you could replace all four at the same time.

Here is the direct link to the part.

Burner switch .

I hope this information will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

on the range top model 911.3378896 I tested each on of the spark modules on the gas control knobs. I removed the live wire from each of the spark modules to see if one of them had shorted out but after removing 1 wire and then the next the same sparking situation continued. I am ok with buying one of the spark modules for 12.00 but not the main box sparking thing for 250. What does the main box do and could that be the problem? I don't want to try fixing and then it ends up being the expensive part. Thanks!!!

The circuit for each of the burners has to go through one of all of the switches and they all spark at the same time no matter which burner you turn on. If you disconnect all the switches the sparking should stop as long as the wire contacts are insulated from from metal. If could be the spark module but I do not think that I would want to pay that price either. The part number for th igition module is WB13K5058 for about $ 56.00. Sam A.
