A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

To begin with, if the washer is not able to drain water, it is not going to spin. You mention the drain pump is running but will not operate. I must assume the drain pump is the problem. The drain pump motor windings can be tested for resistance with the Ohm meter and the voltage supply to the drain pump can be tested with the voltage meter. Disconnect the two wires from the drain pump and measure across the drain pump terminals for Ohm resistance. The drain pump should measure 10-20 Ohms of resistance. If it does not measure 10-20 Ohms, the drain pump is most likely faulty. If it does measure 10-20 Ohms of resistance, the main PWB assembly is likely faulty. NOTE: I do not recommend measuring the voltage supply at the pump or at the PWB unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so; otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.

Once you have determined which needs replace. Order your part at www.SearsPartsdirect.com

Q:

How do I remove the pedestal from my Maytag washer?

A:

The legs that are in the pedestal are the same legs that came with the washer. This type of job will require laying the unit on its side. It is not recommended to lay the unit over unless the shipping bolts are in position. You will need to put the shipping bolts back in before attempting to lay the unit over.
