We have a good HVAC guy, if I have to pay to light the pilot every year. I was hoping that someone could tell us using the diagram where exactly do you put the match to light the pilot?

Thanks for the question about lighting the pilot on your furnace model 867.76761...

If you can see the valve assembly and access it to turn the knob off and on you should be able to see a small gas line 1/4 inch In Diameter. Follow this gas line and it will lead to the pilot assembly.
Set the knob on pilot, press and hold, light pilot assembly and allow to burn for about two minutes. Release knob and turn to the on position. Furnace should be ready to use. (Remember; first startup of the season, the furnace will smoke and smell for about 30 minutes)
I hope this helps, should you need additional assistance please reply with more details and I will be happy to respond.

Thanks Ron H.

Q:

How to light a gas furnace standing pilot?

A:

Without a model number or brand of your furnace, I can only give you some general information.

On the gas valve there should be a knob with on and pilot indicated on the knob or the valve. Turn the knob to pilot.

Somewhere on the gas valve there is a plunger to push in and hold while lighting the pilot. Sometimes the handle of the valve pushes down to turn the pilot on. Sometimes there is a lever to move over and hold while lighting.

Hold the button down and light the pilot. Hold the button down for 1 minute while the pilot burns on the thermocouple. Release the button and the pilot should stay lit.
