Question and Answers

Q:

Jenn-Air Model JJW8330DDW

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The most likely failure is the touch panel or it is possible to have a loose connection when the flat ribbon connector is connected to the control board.

I added an image below showing which two pins to check for continuity across when a specific button is pushed. NOTE: Disconnect the oven from the power supply before servicing.

  1. To remove the control panel, open the door as wide as possible. Remove the four screws from the bottom of the control panel. Grasp the control panel by placing hands on the right and left sides of the panel, lift up and out to disengage from upper flange.
  2. Place the panel on the top oven rack (cover with a cloth to prevent scratching) for component testing.
If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

Q:

Water filter working?

A:

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how important it is to know that your filter is working. I have included an image below on the performance sheet of your filter. This sheet shows that the filter has been approved by the NSF and what the filter removes from your water. There should be little to no water dripping from the filter as water is flushed through the filter and does not remain stagnant in it. The change filter indicator light should come on when the filter has been used for 300-500 gallons, depending on refrigerator filter capacity. Some people choose not to filter out their water. To bypass the filter, simply remove it from the housing. There is no bypass cap needed. If you have questions on how the filter works, please contact the National Science Foundation at 1-800-877-8339.
If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread  and I will be glad to assist you further. Thanks for using ManageMyLife.com.

The model number you sent does not run in our system. I modified the model to 106.9614380 to get an image of the refrigerator. This model pulled up a Kenmore top mount refrigerator made in the 1980's. If the information I am sending doesn't fit your refrigerator, get the model number off the tag inside the refrigerator and reply on this thread. I will be glad to help.

Look closely at the fill tube that comes from the back of the freezer compartment to the icemaker. Many times the problem is this tube freezes shut and won't let water through. If the fill tube is frozen, try removing the fill tube (you will have to remove the icemaker first) and cleaning the fill tube with Comet or some cleanser with bleach in it. Sometimes grease will build up inside the fill tube and cause freezing.

If cleaning the fill tube doesn't help, replace the water valve mounted in the rear of the cabinet in the compressor compartment.

If the fill tube is not frozen, fill the ice mold of the icemaker to the top of the cube molds. Turn the icemaker off for 3-4 hours. Open the freezer door and hold the plunger of the door switch in and the icemaker should go through a harvest cycle. The harvest cycle will take 7-10 minutes.

At the end of the harvest cycle you should hear a hum as the icemaker energizes the water valve solenoid. If you don't hear the hum the water valve might be bad.

If the temperature inside the freezer is maintaining 10 degrees or lower and the icemaker did not dump the ice, the thermostat, motor, or the mold heater inside the icemaker has probably failed. The parts for the icemaker are: motor, part number WR29X5113 is no longer available, thermostat, part number WR29X5168, cost $56.99, mold heater, part number WR29X5132, is no longer available. A complete icemaker with water valve and ice bin is part number 8339. The cost is $155.74. You can order the icemaker at [www.partsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch].
