Thank you for your question on the chipper/shredder.

It looks like you have gotten many years of use from the chipper/shredder and it may be time to look for a replacement.

You could remove the top motor cover and check the motor brushes to make sure they are touch in the commentator on the motor armature.

If the brushes look to be okay then I am thinking that the motor has failed.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

If you have a volt/ohm meter and are familiar with using one, then you can check to make sure you have voltage going to the motor brushes but checking it on the 120 volt ac scale on the meter. Unfortunately because of the age of this tool the motor parts are no longer available including the brushes. But if the brushes are the problem you may be able to find some at a local motor electric shop.
