Q:

Belt Cleaning 831297331 Lifestyler Lifestyler 1500

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when you are looking for directions on how to clean the belt of the treadmill.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Lifestyler treadmill model number 831297331.

HOW TO CLEAN A TREADMILL BELT:

1.  Lift the treadmill belt up enough to slide a few shop cloths in between the treadmill belt and the treadmill deck. Turn the treadmill on and run it at 2.5 to 3 mph. This will help remove excess and used oil from the treadmill belt, and will remove any static buildup that has accumulated on the belt. Turn the treadmill off after about one minute.

2.  Apply new oil to the deck of the treadmill. You do not need to remove the belt to apply new oil. Lift the belt gently off the deck and squeeze small amounts of oil onto the deck. Turn the treadmill on and set the speed for 2.5 mph. Run the belt for two to three minutes. This will allow the new oil to spread over the entire deck.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with the treadmills speed. We are here to help. I suspect the treadmill needs to be calibrated or the controller is bad. Most likely calibrating the speed will correct  the problem.

To enter the "Calibration Mode" follow the steps below:

1   Remove the safety key

2   Press and hold the Stop and Speed up buttons

3   Insert the safety key

4   Release the Stop and Speed up buttons. The console   is now in calibration mode.

While in the Calibration Mode go to the second level by pushing the Speed Up button.

Push the Speed Up button until 84% or 85% show in the Calories window of the console. Next, push the Speed Down button until the display shows zero.

Pull out the safety key and reinsert it so the treadmill returns to normal mode.

If the calibration does not fix the problem, the control board needs to be replaced. The part number for the control board is 138588. The link below will help you order that part. I hope this helps.

To order the controller, please visit SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with the speed changing on the treadmill. We are here to help. Alina did provide you a good link on this problem. I suspect the treadmill needs to be calibrated. Also, I recommend removing the motor cover and cleaning the speed disk and sensor. The easiest way to clean the disk and sensor is, just spray it with canned air. The disk is located at the end of the motor shaft.

I hope this helps.
