Q:

Replacing Walking Belt on Pro-Form J4 831297060 Proform Proform j4

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly get you the instructions to install your belt on your treadmill. The lube that we provide is safe for your unit. The lube will state where to place. There are no STEP BY STEP instructions for replacing the walking belt.  The instructions for replacing the belt on a treadmill have never been printed. There are so many models with different variations it would be very difficult to do.

Basically you disconnect the power to the treadmill and remove the motor hood. Remove the drive belt from the motor and front roller.

Remove the side rails and the rear end caps. Remove the walking board.

Remove the adjusting bolts for the rear roller and remove both front and rear rollers.

Slide the walking belt off the right side of the rollers.

Reverse these instructions for installation of new belt.

let me know if this helps. Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Thanks for the info, but I still have a concern about lube. Label on belt emphatically states, "Maintenance Free Deck -- Do not apply silicone or lubricant" Manual states, "Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE, a high performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear" Sounds like they're trying to tell me something. What to Do ??????? Also, If I were to use lube, should I apply at time I install new belt ? Tx, Larry

Okay since the manual does state not to use the lube I do recommend not using the lube.  Your unit is maintainence free deck in which the walking belt comes with it on it. On the other hand our lube and walk will not damage the walking belt, but should only be used on non maintainence free decks.

Q:

How do you change the incline height on the Treadmill 831297060 Proform Proform j4

A:

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your treadmill. From what you are describing it sounds like the incline leg may actually be damaged, or the incline bolt is. I would suggest that you check both of these parts, and replace the one that is broken. However, I did some research on these and how that they are no longer available. This means that the manufacturer has stopped producing them. You may want to consider purchasing a new treadmill.
