Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your treadmill and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 831296492 and If you have a volt meter you can check the motor to see if it's failed or not. Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood. Take the motor wires (red and black) off at the motor controller board. Then connect the meter to the motor wires so the meter and the motor are connected to each other and set the meter to read DC volts. Now plug in the treadmill and put the safety key in place. Walk on the treadmill and get it up to 3MPH; do this manually (do not press speed up or start). As you start walking the motor will generate electricity and the meter will read it. At 3MPH the meter should read 28VDC. If the voltage reading is less than that at 3MPH then the motor has failed. If it's 28VDC or more then the motor is fine.

Generally if the belt is a problem (like this) it will show up on the walking deck. Lift the belt on the side and put your hand on the walking deck. Slide your hand in a side to side manner across the walking deck. If you can feel ridges or unevenness then the walking deck and belt are worn out. If you have further questions please let me know.

Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com
