The manufacturer typically advises this procedure to be taken care of by a trained technician. However, I understand wanting to do tasks such as this yourself. I have attached a couple of documents to use as a reference. This should help you get a better idea of what you'll need to do to take the walking platform loose and get the end caps replaced.
