I know that it can be very difficult to have your treadmill stop working properly. Based on your symptom there is too much friction between the walking belt and platform. The most common cause of the belt slowing down is a dry or worn out belt and or board. Lift the edges of the belt and look at the walking board and feel of the belt and board. They should be smooth and slick. If the walking belt and board don't seem worn you should lubricate the belt and board with part number 219168 belt lubricant.

Turn the belt by walking on it without the motor running until the belt seam is just past the front roller. Lift the belt and put 1/2 the tube onto the walking board in a zigzag pattern. Move the belt until the belt seam is just in front of the rear roller and put the rest of the lubricant on the walking board. Start the treadmill and walk on all sections of the belt for 10 minutes. This should distribute the lubricant evenly. Use only this special belt lubricant on the walking board and belt. Regular silicone spray or other lubricants might gum up the wax on the belt and you will have to replace it. You can order the lubricant at this link: Sears Parts Direct . I hope this helps. Q:

My treadmill squeals between 2.7 and 3.7 mph. At 3.8 and up it gets quiet. I lubricated it, and get the same noise.

A:

You probably have dirt or debris on or under the mylar shield that is attached to the walking board.

There is a kit to replace the mylar shield. You can probably install the kit yourself.

There are 2 kits. One is for a 17 inch wide walking board and the other is for a 19 inch wide board. The kit for the 19 inch board is 206288, and the kit for the 17 inch board is 206289.

The kits include installation instructions. You cut the mylar and remove it and install the new sheets on the walking board.
