Check the electrical outlet that the treadmill is plugged into. Make sure that it is working. Plug a small lamp or appliance into it to see if it has power.

If the outlet is working, you can check the DC voltage going to the console from the motor controller. The first image below shows the wiring diagram for this treadmill. If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can measure the DC voltage on the red to black wire (either black wire should work). If the console is getting voltage and not powering up then you will probably need to replace the console to fix this problem.

If the console is not getting voltage then you will need to unplug the treadmill and access the motor controller by pulling off the hood. Plug the treadmill back in and see if the troubleshooting LED lights up. The description of the troubleshooting LED on that board is shown in the image below. If the LED does not light then your control board may not be getting power through the outlet cord. Unplug the treadmill and check the outlet cord for continuity using a volt/ohm meter.

If the motor controller is getting power but not sending DC voltage to the console then you will probably need to replace the motor controller.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

These tips may help you determine the cause of your treadmill failure. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question.

I have checked the model number you have submitted. The part number for the treadmill should be 264179. I have checked with the parts department and there have not been any issues with this part number. I recommend calling the parts department and explain the issue to them. They should be able to correct the problem for you. There is not anyway to install the belt wrong.

Please let me know if you have any other problems with the belt.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

What is the maintenance procedure on 831.24865.0 ProForm 580 Crosswalk? What type of lubricant?

A:

The bearings on the rollers and motor of the treadmill are sealed and don't require lubrication. The walking belt should be lubricated if it is slowing down when you walk on it. The part number for the lubricant is 219168. You can order it from www.searspartsdirect.com or buy it from a Sears retail store. The instructions for applying the lubricant are in the package.

Periodically you should unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood. Vacuum it out being careful not to disconnect any wires. Vacuum underneath the walking belt as well.
