Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with the treadmill. If the unit is shutting down after a minute, I recommend trying to recalibrate the console first. I posted an image below that shows how to recalibrate the console. Just click on the image to enlarge. After you calibrate the console, check the operation. If it still stops, I recommend unplugging the unit and remove the hood. Then check all the wire connection. Then test the unit again. If it still stops please reply below with the model number off the model tag on the base of the treadmill. Thank you for using Manage my life.

Thank you for your question. If calibrating the console did not cure the problem, I recommend checking the diagnostic lights on the motor control. To do this you need to unplug the unit and remove the hood. Then carefully plug the unit back in and start the treadmill. When the motor stops use the information in the first image to determine what is going on with the motor control. If the motor control does not show a fault, you will need to do some voltage checks. If you have a meter and feel confident making some live voltage checks, please reply below with the details of what you observed with the diagnostic lights. Thank you for using Manage my life. Janet, It sounds like you are trying to use a heart rate program on the treadmill. I recommend trying to use the treadmill in manual mode. To do this you insert the key and press the speed up button to the desired speed. Then walk as long as you want. If the treadmill works fine in the manual mode, try using it in a program that does not use the heart rate. If it works on that program, I recommend checking the batteries in the chest band or the wire connections to the pulse handgrips. If the treadmill does not work on any setting, I recommend removing the motor hood and check the diagnostic lights on the motor control board. The image in my second posting will aid in checking the diagnostic lights. Please let me know what you find. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Q:

I have a Proform 415 crosswalk. 30 secs after start up the motor weakens and stops. It runs if no one is on it. What is wrong?

A:

You might have the walking belt or drive belt adjusted too tight. The motor, motor controller or the console might be bad. You might have a wire making a bad connection. If you are running the treadmill on an extension cord, the extension cord might not be heavy enough. The walking belt might need lubrication.

I am sending you the instructions to test the walking belt lubrication. Normally the factory lubrication of the belt is good for 4-8 years. For testing the electrical parts you should schedule service and get a technician.

To test the walking belt lubrication, do not turn the treadmill motor on. Set the elevation to the highest level. Stand near the front of the walking belt. Push yourself firmly toward the rear of the treadmill. If the belt is properly lubricated the belt will take you to the rear edge of the treadmill and dump you off on the floor. If you move and stop, the belt needs lubricating.

The part number for the belt lubrication kit is 219168. You can buy it at [www.searspartsdirect.com]. The cost is around $4.00. The application instructions should be in the package, but in case they are not here is how to apply the lubrication.

Turn the walking belt until the belt seam is along the top of the front roller. Raise the belt on one side in the center of the walking board front to back as high as you can. Apply ½ the tube of lubrication to the walking board in a zig zag fashion moving from front to back. Move the belt until the seam comes up on top of the rear roller and lift the belt again and put the rest of the lubrication on the walking board in the same manner. Turn the treadmill on and walk on the belt for 10-20 minutes. Walk all over the belt to distribute the lubrication evenly on the walking belt and board.
