Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

I’m showing the easiest thing to replace would probably be the engine pulley. This would be easier on account that you only have to change one pulley vs 5 or 6. Also before you do that have you tried to install a slightly bigger belt on the unit to see if that would solve the issue? You might want to check that route before you replace any pulleys.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

I am concerned about the pitch of the pulleys. Is the pitch of all pulleys/V-Belts the same? Would I use a longer 1/2" belt to match the pitch of the engine pulley or a longer 5/8" pulley to match the pitch of the mower deck pulleys?

Q:

I have a hydro garden tractor/blower. The unit stopped moving in the cold. The belt is not slipping.

A:

I don't have any information on your tractor. I suspect you might be having colder weather than you have had in a long time. Many places are having record lows.

If the hydro transmission has a filter replace it. If you have 5W40 oil in the transmission it should be ok. Check the oil and see if it is extremely dark or thick. You might need to replace the oil.

You might also have some worn parts inside the hydro and it needs to be replaced. Wait until it warms up some and see if the hydro pulls ok. If it does I recommend replacing the oil with a lighter grade.
