Kenmore 417.8112 Dryer Won't Run 41781122310 Kenmore Dryer

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer is not working properly. 

DIAGNOSTIC MODE
1. With the control on press the “power” button to enter standby mode and enable diagnostic entry.
2. Within 10 seconds after pressing “power”, press “power” again to wake up the control.
3. Within 5 seconds of wake up, turn the selector knob to the far bottom left cycle and press and hold the “power” and the
far left option key simultaneously for 3 seconds to enter the Diagnostic Mode. (note: the option key may be pressed and
held slightly prior to the “power” key).
4. Upon entering Diagnostic Mode, all lights should flash.
5. The following steps can be cycled through by turning the selector knob clockwise:

* NOTE : To clear the error code (s): While in step 8, press and hold the far left option key and “power” buttons
simultaneously for 3 seconds.
6. To exit Diagnostic Mode:
a) Unplug the power cord, wait 5-8 seconds, then reconnect the power cord OR
b) Turn the program knob to the Start Position (lights/Buttons Test). Press the “power” and far left option key simultaneously
for 6 second.

READING ERROR CODES
1. Wake the dryer up by pressing the "power" button. If dryer will not wake up, refer to Error "No Display".
2. Turn the knob to any cycle.
3. Press and hold the “power” and “start /pause” buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds to show the last error code recorded. The error code will appear in the display as an E followed by two numbers. NOTE: E00 means no failure code experienced.
4. To view the last 5 error codes recorded or to clear all error codes, refer to the Diagnostic Mode.

Hi Natasha, there is no "power" button on my model. Other than the buttons involving the various cycle preferences, there is a "select" button, a "cancel" button, and a "Start/Pause" button. Can you please clarify which buttons need to be pressed to enter the diagnostic mode? Thanks!

You will not be able to take advantage of the savings a programmable thermostat will provide but yes most non-programmable thermostats can be used with a heating and cooling system.  Yes you should be able to swap the non-programmable thermostat with the programmable thermostat.
