"the cooler will not regulate temperature" Really, that's an answer? That's ridiculous. Of course it regulates temperature. It has two temperature settings, one for red wine and one for white. That's how it works. Now, that it's NOT working anymore, I would like to know how to fix it.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your cooler model HVF042ABL; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Your cooler has a thermistor that helps cycle at correct temperatures, this electronic component messages the control board the information which should cycle the unit on and off. The freezing issue could be cause by one of these components or it could be the result of a sealed system problem.  Proper diagnoses will be required to determine the exact cause. I have attached an image below on how to test the thermistor and how to replace it should you determine it is your exact cause of freezing. I hope this helps. If you should need more help reply with added details and the serial number and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.

HVF042ABL. My wine cooler was stuck at 81 degrees. I cleaned and rotated the ceramic disk inside the relay and it works now, or you can just buy a new relay.

See Use & Care Guide for 796.4127# - pg 22 CLEAN WASHER (4) "After the cycle has ended, secure the door slightly ajar with the door magnet. This will promote air circulation and allow the interior of the machine to dry. To use this feature, close the door just until it contacts the door magnet."

I can understand the confusion trying to use a listed feature that does not work. I researched and contacted the manufacturer but have no clear answer for you. The use and care does indicate this feature as stated. It may be that some similar models do not have this feature. If you wish to supply the complete model number and serial number of the washer, I would be happy to check further.

I have a couple of options to consider.

First, this is a auto type door switch. After the door switches off, end of signal is displayed and it takes about 2 minutes to turn off the door switch. I would try after the two minutes has passed and the auto switch time has expired. Also make sure the Control lock is not active. This acts as a safety feature to prevent children from operating the machine.

Another option for air drying is to just leave the door ajar if it does not present a hazard by doing so.

If you are still under warranty, you may also choose to have a technician visit to check that the door switch and latch functions, including the magnet are all operating properly. If you decide to schedule a Sears technician, click here; Sears Home Services .

I wish there was a clearer answer for you at this time. If you would like me to check further, please reply with the complete model and serial number as requested above. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Model: 796.41272210 Serial: 205KWJU2G580 I did attempt to engage magnet with Door Switch off and Control Lock inactivated to no avail. With machine leveled door flops completely open; won’t stay ajar without tying it down. Please see what you can do before I make warranty claim.

Thank you for responding with the model and serial number. This washer does have the feature in question. The door works on a cam rotation when in use and has a temporary stop before opening. Try closing the door, then pushing in and releasing in one motion to see if it will pop back to the magnet held position. I am concerned that the door flops all the way open. This is usually a level issue or hinge problem. I know you indicated the washer was level. I would recommend using the image below to adjust the leveling legs to see if that helps with providing more control over the door position. If neither of these suggestions work, then scheduling a technician visit is probably the next step. Let me know how this works. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hi Marcus. I see you have the same model washer. The magnet is part of the door latch assembly. The latch is activated or deactivated electronically. I would recommend making sure the door gasket is not wrinkled or sticking out at some point, keeping the latching mechanism from operating properly. Also make sure there are no foreign objects stuck in the latch area. Follow the recommendations in the information above. If you are having problems with the door not latching properly or locking, I would recommend having a technician diagnose and repair. If you are having the same issue with the door not holding to allow air inside, but the door does latch correctly, then I would check the level of the washer. If I find any new information on this issue, I will let you know.

I own the Kenmore Front-Loading Automatic Washer. The Model # on my "Use & Care Guide" and unit reads: 796.4127. While this model # corresponds with the "Elite" model at www.searspartsdirect.com, I don't not own the "Elite" model. I have the magnetic part you're referring to. It's called a "Washing Machine Magnetic Door Plunger." It is a grey-colored 1.2"x1"x1" piece of plastic that fits over a small metal spring. The part is located on the inside, bottom, center of the door. There is also a sticker with instructions on the door that reads, "After Washing, it is recommended that you open the door to circulate fresh air into the drum by using the Magnetic door plunger. The part recently broke and I'm having a terrible time getting it replaced. I've made six or more phone calls to the Sears Parts Direct customer service line, been transferred to dozens of departments, and even a visit to the store as well. I have seen no progress on Sear's part getting this issue resolved for about a month. Sear's delays mean that I've spent countless hours trying to get this issue resolved before my warranty expires as the end of July 2013! For some unknown, unexplained reason, the part is not included ANYWHERE in the online diagram of "associated parts." As well, the part was also not included on the showroom model. As crazy as it sounds, I'm convinced that the WRONG door was put on my machine in the factory. I have an appointment scheduled this Saturday from 8-1 for a repair technician to come out to my house even though I'm 99% certain this is a do-it-yourself fix. I hope to get this problem fixed very soon and regret having to share my unpleasant experience with Sear's.

I will need the model number from the remote to be able to see what system you have. It may not be compatible with your opener since the opener is pretty old.

You can reply back to me here directly on this thread.
