Question and Answers

Q:

I have a ken more elite frontloader model 79641028900 79641028900 Kenmore Elite Washer

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about you Kenmore Elite Washer model 79641028900. I am so sorry the washer isn’t balanced. I will be happy to help you with this.

Using a level to make sure the top of the washer is balanced is great. I recommend you also press on the corners of the cabinet to see if the washer moves when you push down. If the washer rocks it means that although it is level on the top, the legs at the bottom are not all making firm contact with the floor. The corner that moves down when you press it will be the leveling leg you need to adjust. If this doesn’t resolve the issue then the next step would be to check the suspension shocks. If one is damaged you should replace all of them so that they wear evenly. Also check the balance weights. Also make sure the flooring where the washer is installed is firm, otherwise you may need to stabilize the floor or move the washer to another location.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death.

If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME). I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Replacing the door gasket on your Kenmore Washer Model 796.41028900 is a fairly advanced repair.

You can order the part (MDS47123601) from this page: Door Gasket Part MDS47123601 for Kenmore Washer Model 796.41028900.  You will normally need 2 spring tools to complete this repair. The tool for the outer spring clamp on the front panel of the washer is 383EER4001A. There is a spring clamp on the tub of the washer that uses a different tool (part 383EER4004A). I don't recommend that you attempt this repair without those tools.

Unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

I posted a procedure for accessing and replacing the door gasket in the 4 images below. You may need to remove the counter balance weights on the front of the washer tub to get the new gasket properly installed. Make sure that you orientate the new door gasket properly when installing it. It should be installed in the same manner as the original gasket.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
