Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and for contacting us with your question about your Kenmore washer model 79640272800. I am so sorry the soap cap is stuck in the detergent drawer.  I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link below for you to view the owner’s manual online.

Page 22 of the manual has the step-by-step instructions, with diagrams, on how to remove the detergent drawer. Once the drawer is out, you should have no trouble removing the cap.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Kenmore washer Time Display

A:

When the lights go out on the Kenmore washer, it is difficult to see what is going on with the wash. It may be something as simple as a loose wire, but that is for the expert to verify. Thanks for your patience while the research is being done.

On some cycles that use the Load Sense system, the cycle time will not be displayed until the washer detects the size of the load. The page from your owner's manual in the first image below shows that information. The average cycle time for a normal load is shown on page 14 of the manual (see 2nd image below). Here is a link for the full manual: Owner's Manual for Kenmore Washer Model 796.4027 . . . . On the cycles that use the load sense, I recommend that you wait a few minutes and see if the cycle time appears after the load size has been detected. If the cycle time appears after the load is sensed then the control is working normally.

NOTE: I offer the above information to help you avoid an unnecessary repair if that control is working normally based on the information in the manual.

If the cycle time never appears and the control is apparently not working, then you will probably need to replace the main PCB control board in the washer. Here is a link for that part that has a picture of that component: Main PCB Board for Kenmore Washer Model 796.40272900 . NOTE: If you have model 796.4027800 then you will need this Main PCB Control Board : Main PCB Board for Kenmore Washer Model 796.40272800 . If you replace that control board, be sure that you order the correct one based on your full model number. There are only 2 models that begin with 796.4027 . . . If you need help ordering the correct control board, let us know.

Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing and replacing that main PCB control board. The third image below shows the procedure for replacing that component.

This is a basic repair that you can probably complete on your own.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair the washer, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
