Question and Answers

Q:

Refrigerator is too cold. 79579753901 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

Q:

What does Code Er 1F mean? 79579753901 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore refrigerator.

From the information you have provided above, the error code ER 1F states that the fan for the ice compartment failed. This could be due to ice blocking the fan from spinning, there is a loose connection wire, or the motor is bad. If everything looks okay and nothing is blocking the fan, the control board may have gone out on it.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

Q:

Icemaker stopped working... 79579753901 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your refrigerator ice maker is not working. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

7-2-5 Function TEST
1. This is a forced operation for TEST, Service, cleaning, etc. It is operated by pressing and holding the Fill Key for 3 seconds.
2. The test works only in the Icemaking Mode. It cannot be entered from the Harvest or Fill mode.
3. Caution! If the test is performed before water in the icemaker is frozen, the ejector will pass through the water. When the Fill mode begins (Stage 4), unless the water supply has been shut off, added water will overflow into the ice bin. If the control doesn’t operate normally in the TEST mode, check and repair as needed.
4. After water is supplied, the normal CYCLE is followed: icemaking → Harvest → Park Position → Fill.
5. Five seconds after Stage 5 is completed, the Ice Maker returns to MICOM control. The time needed to supply waterresets to the pre- test setting.
If your ice maker still does nothing, then the icemaker may need to be replaced.

Also double check if you are receiving water through the dispenser. This could be a water valve issue.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I have tried this, and it sounds as if it may be springing back to life. Fingers crossed.... How long should I let it be now before checking it again? I figure if I keep opening it up, I probably am not helping it freeze ice.
