Q:

Code Er 1F 795.78733.800 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear about the error code you are experiencing, I know how frustrating that is. I should be able to shed some light on it for you.

The Er IF error code indicates that the main control board detects that the ice compartment cooling fan is not working. This will cause a lack of cooling in the ice compartment and will normally result in no ice production. This is something that a service technician will usually need to correct. If you are advanced in technical skills, you may be able to correct this problem yourself. It will require the removal of the inside back panel of the freezer compartment.

This is not an easy task. I recommend that you review the procedure for this task that is shown in the image below. Make sure that you are able to safely perform the tasks described before proceeding with this repair. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Once you access the ice fan, you may find excessive frost in this area and on the evaporator that could be causing your cooling problem and fan problem. If you defrost this area, you may find that you do not need to replace parts. If you find no excessive frost or the Er IF error code resumes after removing any frost then you will likely need to replace the ice fan (part 5209JA1044A).

If you need the ice fan replacement, I have added a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect site to view and purchase the fan. I have also included blue links below that you may click on to see the disassembly and installation instructions for the repairs.

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 795.78733.800. Icemake door is stuck open which triggers alarm. You will want to make sure that nothing is blocking the dispenser and keeping the door open. The unit contains a sensor and motor that controls the door. You may want to check those items. I included the diagram for the parts to show where they are located. Number 407C and 407D.

If you have further questions please let me know.
