Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the water filter. The filter can be removed and the water will automatically be by-passed through the water system in the unit. Now, I would not recommend using an RO because it can and usually will create low water pressure problems. This will usually cause the icemaker to have slow production at times. I hope this will help you.

This could be the ice maker motor, sensor, or the ice maker itself may need to be replaced.

First, check to make sure the freezer door is closing completely. The ice maker will not function if door is ajar. Try manually dumping the ice bin to see if the icemaker will resume. Check to make sure there are not pieces of ice stuck in the harvester.

The temperature sensor could be sending incorrect signals to the processor. The compartment, where the icemaker is located, has to be at least degree 0 degree F so that icemaker dumps ice into the bin. Is the temperature below 10 degrees F in the icemaker compartment?

I am attaching some images you can use to see if the icemaker will manually cycle. If the unit does not reset, I would recommend having a technician diagnose and make repairs or replace the ice maker if it has failed. You can schedule a Sears technician here; Sears Home Services .
