Question and Answers

Q:

Water dispenser leaking on Kenmore Elite

A:

Thank you for your question.  Water drips and leaks can be upsetting. First the source of the leak needs to be determined. If this is a constant drip, the water valve will need to be replaced. If it is an occasional drip, the water tube or reservoir is likely the issue. This is the water tube that fits inside the door. The only way to be sure is to open the dispenser up and look. I have attached two images below that will help you check to see if the source can be narrowed down. Replacement parts can be found at Sears Parts Direct . If further assistance is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

The filter needed for this refrigerator is # 9990. It has some tabs on it that will allow it to fit in the housing, only one way. If the original filter fits in place and turns, hold it next to the new filter, to see if you can see a difference. You can also measure them, to make sure they are the same length.

To remove the housing, take the phillips screw out and pull the housing forward. You can see in the picture it has some slots holding the back in place. The top of the filter assembly # 611E will also pull forward to free it. The back of the assembly has the water lines connected to it. I'm sending a picture with instructions for this type of connection. I hope this helps you.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
